No Longer Required

In those weeks where I’m not seeing eye to eye with the Shitbird Scale, it’s more important than ever that I find non-scale victories to celebrate, and yesterday morning’s  was the sweetest win  in ages. I managed to fasten my bra for the very first time without using an extender. I know, right? It took me more than an hour to get the smile off my face.

I’ve never been blessed with more than a handful in the boobage department and no matter how much weight I’ve been carrying, my boobs never managed to grow any bigger. That’s just how I’m made. Even at my fattest I could still only fill a B cup. Don’t get me wrong, there have been times where I could’ve happily filled my bra twice over with the extra rolls of fat that kind of hung around the general chest area, but in terms of actual boobs, they’ve remained stubbornly disproportionate. No hour-glass figure for me and certainly no match for my double arse.

Finding underwear has always been a bit of a challenge, because nobody seems to make bras for fat girls who have fat backs and small boobs. That’s just a fact, you know? I did once manage to find a size 56B bra on the internet but when it arrived it’d never seen a B cup, I mean I could’ve fitted a decent-sized watermelon in each side.

Not being able to find bras in my size meant I’ve had to stuff my boobs into shapeless non-wired stretchy bra tops for the last few years. Which is fine, and they’re comfy but those things don’t give you any shape at all. They keep stuff under control but they’re not really bra bras, are they?

About a year ago I discovered bra extenders, which are just the best invention ever. Once I knew they existed I bought a ton of them. It wasn’t unheard of for me to have three of them hooked up end to end right the way across my back but at least my boobs were properly supported and it was a definite improvement on the bras-that-aren’t-really-bras.

Anyway, I don’t know whether it’s down to all the swimming I’ve been doing, but yesterday as I was getting dressed I raised my arms above my head, and noticed that my bra was riding up. My excuses-for-boobs were even making a bid for freedom from underneath and at that point I realised it was now too big around the body. So, I had a stab at fastening it without the extender, and it fitted. I mean it really fitted, I could breathe and everything. And it wasn’t so tight as to cause that horrible sideways-on overspill either. It just looked tidy. Everything contained, you know? Silhouette present and correct, and extender no longer required.

It was only a small moment, in the grand scheme of things but every victory is worth shouting about don’t you think? 🙂

  1. Hi, all. Hey, I am missing our latest post… LOL I come off like a creepy, needy stalker! No pressure but Doll, you always find a way to prune `n` groom your latest brainstorms & they’re always good. No “dodgy,” no “steaming pile of [pap]” I gotta say.

The other thing is, am cautiously ecstatic about the number on Malevolent the sadistic arbitrary asshat scale. Thursday was my weigh day – been toeing the mark with eating plan, logging, & my DILIGENT light exercise. But honestly, when has that ever produced a dependable positive result on weigh day? It broke ground, down into the high sixties. Huh.

    1. Fleury that’s AWESOME! Bloody well done, you’re a rock star 🙂 I had a meltdown on Friday morning Fleury…and honest to God, my draft post ended up in the recycle bin…it was truly a steaming pile of shite. I was overloaded last week and I think my head just went off on one. Normal service will resume tomorrow! It’s nice to be missed though!

    2. completely understand. mark twain simply ended a chapter in Tom Sawyer, “Let us draw the curtain of charity over the rest of this scene.”

  2. Hey Dee I’m bacccck! You may have heard over on that side of the pond we had a little hurricane here in Florida named Erma. My husband decided at 4:30 on Saturday morning that we were going to evacuate so we drove up to my dads place in northern Alabama. We came back home on Tuesday it was the trip from hell once we got on the interstate what should of been a five hour journey turned into and extra 5 hours. We could only go 25-30 miles per hour in stop and go traffic we have no air condition in our truck. I sweated so much I lost 2 pounds on this trip I kid you not!
Gas was in scare supply so we tried not to let our gas tank go below half way. My hubby who was driving slipped up and we got down to a quarter tank. We had to get off the interstate and hunt and peck in the dark for a gas station that had power and gas. Luckily after about an hour and many prayers we found one then we had to wait another hour in line. Back on the interstate slow and go we went then a miracle happened we got on what is called our turn pike and the road opened up and we were able to get up to speed it was glorious to feel the wind at that point to cool us off. We had called a neighbor the day before we left coming home so we knew our house was OK by the grace of God. By the time we got home the power was turned on so we had air conditioning. This was midnight the next morning we saw how trashed our yard really was. My girl friend came over and helped me clean it up some my poor exhausted hubby had to go back to work. We are grateful that he had a job to go back to a lot of people were not so lucky. There is still a lot of people without power down here and it is still in the 90’s. I have spent the last two days feeling shell shocked last night I was finally able to sleep for 8 hours straight through and I feel a whole lot better for it!
Great job on losing all those inches keep it going!

    1. Oh my days, Susan thank heavens you are safe and your home survived Erma too. I’ve been thinking about you all and hoping everything would be okay! It’s so good to hear from you!! Big hugs xx

  3. This is a great milestone, Dee. Since I got here a little late, can you post an executive overview just to orient us latecomers? For example, goal is to lose x number of pounds, now we are at the midpoint with y number lost and z to go. xom

    1. Yes of course Margaret…I started at around 322 and I’m currently 241, so I’m 81lbs down. My target is 147, so I need to lose another 94lbs…it doesn’t sound like a lot if you say it fast!!

  4. Yes, shout! I hear you! Wheee-hah, those babies are stars!! LUL.

Keep Focus, now! Remember Dec., 2017 (I see 16 weeks. By my calculations I need to arrive back at the size-10 address; last year I couldn’t stick the landing).

  5. that definitely counts as a major victory! I have been hiking, canoeing and doing aquafit for a year now, haven’t lost an ounce or a clothing size BUT my strength, endurance and balance have improved beyond measure. My knees don’t hurt, my back doesn’t hurt and I am pretty sure my blood pressure has improved. The scale is still evil but I feel a heck of a lot better. I am counting it as a win.
